Cobia 277

The boat that we will be fishing on is a 2016 Cobia 277 powered with twin Yamaha 200 HP 4 stroke engines. The boat is rigged with all the up-to-date and latest technologies from Garmin that include a 16" fish finder on the console, 90" 36v Garmin Kraken trolling motor, and Magnum Metalz Downriggers paired with a FishHawk to help us find, catch, and stay on top of fish. Every angler on our fishing trips will be using all top of the line rods and reels. On board, there is storage for your extra belongings, built in cooler in the bow to store your drinks and snacks, and a flushable head with freshwater sink in the center console if needed while out on the water. In the bow there is a table to sit around comfortably while ready for the next fish and the table can also be lowered to make a casting deck on our hands-on fishing charters.

Captain Tyler Smith is the owner/operator of Pure Angling and is native to Northern Michigan. Tyler started fishing at an early age and quickly found his favorite pastime. With a river running though his back yard, you could find him everyday after school casting off the dock, catching and releasing fish. Every summer, Tyler and his parents would take family vacations all over Michigan, finding new spots to camp and fish. This summertime hobby evolved into an all season hobby for Tyler, and eventually turned into a way for him to make money while attending college. For three summers, he worked for Big Kahuna Charters as a first mate with Captain Sonny Aeschliman on over 300 charters learning and honing his skills. A few years later, he started a charter fishing business and is using his knowledge as a captain helping people catch fish and have a memorable day out on the water. Although fishing is a big part of his life, when he is not fishing, he is spending time with his girlfriend Kaila, family, and friends enjoying the great outdoors: hiking, camping, grilling, traveling, sightseeing, and going on walks with his dog, Max.
